Oi kitchen is a new place in khar that serves mexican spanish and peruvan food. A well lit and softly decorated place with a lot to beautiful natural light seeping in through the windows.
An unusual selection of menu that left us amazed.
From their menu we tried-
Rosemary bread topped with basil pesto sliced avocado and basil pesto. The avocado seemed still raw but overall we didn’t mind the taste.
Brazillian cheese bread- Bread stuffed with cheese served alongside aoili. we found this starter very new and unusual, we weren’t used to this kind of flavour yet we really enjoyed it.
Guajillo paneer tacos- We did initially ask for tofu tacos but due to unavailability we decided to go w these. they are soft shelled tacos topped with sour cream. they were delicious and a good way to start your meal
Open face burrito-
Fresh tortilla topped with beans guacamole mix leaves and sour cream it was a lovely dish and filled our tummies to the brim.
Dulce de leche cookie-
Delicious cookie served with mint ice cream they either serve single or three in a batch. Its a great option to taste if you’re looking to order multiple desserts.
Soft creamy Nutella cheesecake served with Nutella mouse. The only drawback of this dessert was the mousse that didn’t provide any contrast to the cheesecake, it felt as though we are topping cheesecake with more cheesecake.
Overall we think Oi Kitchen was a good experience. A few drawbacks were that they didn’t have some of the things available, so if you’re going to try something specific like the burrata we recommend you check for it while making your reservations. The staff and ambience is lovely for a late dinner or sunday brunch.
Lilt at the ever growing hub of Lower Parel claims to be a Modern Asian Bar Room. With its ambience it’s doesn’t fail to be one of the best places to hang out with a big group. A very spacious interior like this is a rare right sight in Bombay and we’re all about taking advantage of this room this place offers.
The best part we think about this place is the charm that makes you feel Royalty when you’re eating brunch in the day and gives you ample floor to shake your leg at night.
Lilt curated a Tasting Menu so we could get the best of what’s on their menu-
Spicy and tangy flavoured mushrooms loaded with garlic and chillies. This was a vegetarians absolute dream come true kind of a dish and we are going back for more.
You can’t truly call yourself Asian if you’re not drooling over this soul food, Can you?
Lilt offers a dreamy collection of flavours and stuffings you can choose from.
Let’s address the elephant in the room! Raw fish is a nightmare for some, but don’t worry because Sushi is not only confined for the pescatarians. We gorged on some delightful Avocado cream cheese sushi.
We tried one of their signature dishes which was the grilled salmon. We were so amazed by the presentation which was fish placed over a charcoal grill that we couldn’t wait to dig right into it. Boy it didn’t disappoint. To be honest it almost felt like a dish straight out of Masterchef
Rosemary Old fashioned-
We would love to love this one. The cocktail was presented with a huge piece of ice filling up most of the glass. It was smoked to enhance the flavour of rosemary but we felt we though the smell or the smoke overpowered the cocktail so much that we could barely drink it without the pungent smell troubling our nose.
What’s better than luxury? Luxurious desserts. Golden pyramid made out of chocolate to shell the brownie accompanied by some melted chocolate to pour over. Ah! Did we just describe what heaven feels like?! An absolute must try irrespective of your fitness goals.
Overall we do think that Lilt is a definite hit for its food and luxurious ambience. The staff is well trained and are there to make your experience better than you thought it will be. We’re for sure hitting this place post Monday blues. Shout out to the staff who were super helpful and courteous to us.
Happy House Kitchen is a recent shoot up in the most happening part of town. Lively music and a chic modern ambience. The menu is vast with a lot of variety.
Tom khaa yaa
Price- 269 for two
A creamy white broth with vegetable dumplings and pad thai noodles. Perfect for a chilli noon. It’s slightly on the spicy side but we’re sure you’re going to love this.
Happy House Nachos
Crispy nachos with one of the best guacamole’s we have had. The cheese didn’t pair best w these nachos and we do think this dish is a little overpriced
Chilli Plum Bao
Crunchy panner is a heavenly chilli sauce in a soft bread. We couldn’t have asked for more!
We a 100% urge you to give this a go but we’re giving you a Spice Alert!
Old school regular flat bread with nice gooey cheese is always a no brainer! I think it’s relatively big given it’s price point and a good dish to stick to if you’re not the mood of an experiment.
A classic- Manchurian and Rice turned special and plated in the most beautiful way possible. Lavender coloured rice, manchurian balls and ginger tempura topped with warm gravy is a much awaited fancy twist to most of our favourite Chinese Cuisine.
For desserts we tried their pool of Nutella which was the yummiest tart we have had. The staff was also kind enough to present to us their Valentine’s Day special dessert before time. It was a cute heart shaped mouse cake and it totally stole our hearts.
Overall we think this is a perfect place for a family get together. The staff is kind and helpful. The interiors small but gorgeous. They also have a terrace seating which is in the making.
The Chocolate Room is the self-proclaimed ‘Best Chocolate Dessert Café ‘of the city. For the past 10 years, it has indeed been one of the most popular dessert cafes of not just the city, but the whole country.
With Trench by The Chocolate Room, they are taking their craft to a whole new dimension. Trench’s menu definitely justifies its association with the chocolate room. It has got some of the best dessert options out there. ‘The Midas Touch’ deserves a special mention here. From shakes to frappes to sundaes, they have got it all.
But Trench is so much more than just another dessert place. It is a complete restaurant café. It offers one of the longest, never-ending beverage and food menu that we have ever seen. We definitely recommend going in big groups or making multiple visits, just to experience the amazing array of cuisines that this place has to offer.
You can never go wrong with soups and appetizers here. Our recommendation would be the mini burger platter, it’s unique and it’s awesome. The crepes are also great here. We also had the Mexican Filo Tart, Mezze Platter, Garlic Bread, The Red Velvet Cake, and the Kit-Kat shake and we would recommend it all without any hesitation. The food served here is legit delicious, fresh and has a unique taste to it. The food and the vibe here have got some indescribable quality to it, which is difficult to put in words. You have got to experience it. The feel of the place is quite chic yet very cosy and homely. The wall art, the swings, the red booth, and the overall setting of the place sets the mood right.
One outing to this place may not be enough to go through the whole menu, but it was more than enough for us to recommend Trench to anyone and everyone who enjoys good food from café-restro style menu and who is looking forward to indulging in some out-of-this-world desserts!
As a food blogger, there’s a constant dilemma of choosing between healthy and tasty food to post. But the Protein House (in Bandra) proves that healthy food and tasty food need not be mutually exclusive. Protein House offers a menu that is healthy yet very delicious.
Don’t get fooled by the small size or the quint ambience of the place, because this restaurant feels very cosy and homely to dine in. The staff is very nice and they will guide you through the menu without any problems. Coming to the menu, this is where all the magic of this place lies.
The place offers you your favourite dishes like pizzas and burgers, but with ingredients like kale, barley and ragi. This menu is wholesome and contains options for salads, appetizers, wraps and so much more. They claim that all the dishes of this menu contain at least 20-25 grams of protein. They also do not use any less-healthy ingredients like maida, sugar or butter. Each dish here is made only using olive oil or herb oil.
We loved the Hummus Trio; its bright, it looks good, and it tastes amazing! Vegetable Quinoa Barley Burger was also nice, and so was the Pizza Continental. We would also suggest you to ask what the soup of the day is, while ordering.
There are a lot of options here and the whole menu can easily be recommended. We also tried (and loved) the strawberry-watermelon smoothie. Talking about beverages, another one of our recommendations would be the watermelon-beet-amaranthus concoction (for the health-freaks out there).
So, in a nutshell, if you wanna have something healthy without compromising on taste, or if you wanna eat something tasty, without having to eat something that’s totally unhealthy, we would suggest you try out the Protein House!
